Advice and advocacy

An advocate seated with a gavel.

If you ever feel like you need additional assistance and support, we can arrange for you to have an advocate. An advocate is an independent person who will support you to make your voice heard, particularly during important meetings or when you are making significant decisions about your future.

Advocates are not directly linked to Horton Housing and will represent your interests in meetings about your support and accommodation. They will also support you if you have a complaint about the service.

Your support worker can arrange for you to have an advocate if you want one. They will provide guidance and help you understand the decisions that are being made and the processes that are being followed.

If you would like an advocate, please talk to your support worker.

We have leaflets available in all our schemes that list the organisations that can help you with specific issues you may be facing. For example, you may want specialised support with your sexuality, religious beliefs or mental health.

You can find a list of advice and advocacy groups here: Advice and advocacy: service directory – Horton Housing
