I am passionate about social housing and social inequalities and I want to make a difference. I felt by becoming a Board Member for Horton Housing I was in a great place to try bring about positive change and felt my own values and ethos mirrored those of Horton Housing.

My career has been very diverse, with almost 20 years in both general needs and intensive social housing management. I have worked in the private sector (finance & insurance), along with public and third party sectors and have undertaken a variety of roles including working with young offenders, Equality and Diversity and served West Yorkshire for many years as a Special Police Constable.

I am hoping to bring a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge but also ideas, creativity and to be a critical friend. On a personal level, I hope to gain satisfaction from being part of something big that can effect positive change.

I also want to always remain connected to social housing because once a person has the stability and security of a home, everything can be built upon that. I have worked alongside Horton Housing for many years and now hope to be part of an organisation that does great things for those who often really need it most.

I love to read and learn โ€“ I am continually learning, so often I am found listening to podcasts or completing short courses on areas I find myself interested in, from aspects of forensic psychology to architecture. I also love music, art and theatre and enjoy attending concerts, galleries and performances. I am currently tracing my family tree and have a keen interest in ancestry and genetics.

Sara is a member of the HHA Board.
