When I saw the advert for Board Members, and having worked alongside Horton Housing in my previous employment, I was aware of the importance, and high quality, of the work that the organisation does, and feel privileged to be able to support that.

My first role in health and social care was as a volunteer in a Needle Exchange in 2003. Since then, I have worked in a range of areas, including housing/homelessness, substance misuse, offending, young people, peer provision and complex needs. I have also worked in several central functions, including quality assurance, regulatory compliance, process planning, data analysis and innovation/development. My work in these areas has been within a range of roles, such as voluntary, service user-facing, teaching, advisory, mentoring, managerial, director and trustee positions.

Having worked across multiple disciplines and functions, I hope to bring a practical delivery focussed view into our oversight with a focus on building strategic, and partnership focused delivery of safe, effective and impactful services for the people that need them the most. I hope to ensure that these are accessible to those people and considering those peoples views.

I hope my time on the board will help the organisation deliver our Mission for the people we support to have the best life they can, with a place they can call home. I also look forward to the role keeping me connected to the Housing sector, with an opportunity to learn and grow my own knowledge and skills while working with, and learning from, the Board, Staff and the people we work with.

When not working I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and occasionally watching a good football game. Up The Villa!

David is a member of the HHA Board.
