I’m currently a Senior Manager at Together Housing, working within the Mechanical & Electrical team. I’ve spent nearly 20 years in social housing across a variety of roles, and I’m genuinely passionate about the impact our work can have. I truly believe social housing provides a foundation for people to build the lives they want, and I carry that belief into everything I do. It’s a fast-paced, forward looking environment, which suits me well. I thrive on the energy and the constant opportunity to learn and grow.
Outside of work, I’m married and mum to a 19-year-old daughter, as well as step-mum to Isla (13) and Max (11). Life at home is a contrast to my workday. I enjoy lots of family time and place a real focus on wellbeing. Whether it’s reading, travelling (which I absolutely love!), keeping active, or simply spending quality time together, I believe that investing in yourself helps you bring your best to everything else.
I was really drawn to the opportunity to become a Board member at Horton with Chartford Housing because it aligns so closely with my values and passion for making a positive impact through social housing. After nearly two decades in the sector, I wanted to bring my experience to a strategic level, helping shape the bigger picture while still staying connected to the heart of what we do: supporting people and communities. The chance to contribute in a meaningful way, alongside others who care just as deeply, really appealed to me.
I bring nearly 20 years of experience in social housing, with a strong background in asset management and building safety, particularly within Property Service as Senior Manager for Repairs & Maintenance and more recently Mechanical & Electrical services. Over the years, I’ve worked across a range of roles, which has given me a well-rounded view of both the operational and strategic sides of the sector. More recently, I’ve been working closely with our Supported Housing team to help shape services that recognise and respond to the specific needs of people with vulnerabilities, an area I find especially rewarding.
My connection to social housing also runs deeper than my professional experience. My parent lived in social housing, and I saw first-hand how it can offer stability and a fresh start when it’s most needed. That lived experience continues to ground my approach and gives me a strong sense of purpose in the work I do. What really drew me to Chartford and Horton Housing is the organisation’s strong commitment to working with people who face significant barriers whether that’s experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or complex personal circumstances. That person-centred, trauma-informed approach really resonates with me. I’ve seen how vital it is to design services around people’s real needs, and I’m passionate about being part of a board that puts dignity, inclusion, and empowerment at the heart of what it does.
Being a Board member at Horton offers me the chance to contribute to something I deeply believe in. Making a meaningful difference in people’s lives through safe, supportive housing. On a personal level, it’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of an organisation that shares my values and is committed to supporting people with vulnerabilities in our communities.
Professionally, the role allows me to broaden my perspective beyond day-to-day operational delivery and be part of strategic discussions that shape the direction of the organisation. It’s a great opportunity to work alongside people with different skills and experiences, and I find the learning that comes from that collaboration really valuable. From a development point of view, being on the Board helps me grow as a leader. It challenges me to think differently, ask the right questions, and consider wider social, financial, and governance impacts. Overall, it’s a role that gives back in so many ways while allowing me to bring my experience and passion to the table.
