Horton Housing Association is delighted to announce that we have achieved Investing in Volunteers Accreditation (IiV). This comes after months of hard work behind the scenes by our employees and volunteers.

IiV is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. We successfully achieved the accreditation after being assessed against six quality areas:

  • Vision for Volunteering
  • Planning for Volunteers
  • Volunteer inclusion
  • Recruiting and welcoming volunteers
  • Supporting volunteers
  • Valuing and developing volunteers

Esther Douglas, Volunteer Service Manager, said: “I am very proud that we are an Investing in Volunteers (IiV) achiever. This is the first time we have been awarded the quality mark and it shows that we value our volunteers and demonstrates our commitment to volunteering.

“I am extremely proud of our team of volunteers and the staff who support them. Without them, we could not deliver such a great volunteering programme! The quality mark demonstrates to volunteers that we offer a good quality volunteering experience and we value the enormous contribution that volunteers bring to our organisation.”

Horton Housing Association offers a range of exciting volunteering opportunities, such as gardening roles, furniture restoration projects, collecting and distributing donations and wellbeing café assistants. We have a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds who volunteer across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire and play a pivotal role in helping the organisation continue to deliver high quality services.

Paul Gartland, Chief Executive Officer, added: “As we begin Volunteers’ Week, I am immensely pleased that Horton Housing Association has received Investing in Volunteers accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to delivering high standards and good practice in the management and support of those who volunteer across the organisation, and help others in a selfless way.”

We would like to thank all of our volunteers for their incredible hard work in attaining this accreditation.
