Board profile: Mark Wilby

I’m the Head of Mechanical Gas and Electrical Services for a large social housing association. I have worked in social housing for more than 20 years including working within the private sector and facilities management.

My role involves the leadership of technical management, planning staff and engineers delivering repairs, investment, compliance programs, auditing and void works to more than 22,000 homes across Bradford and Kirklees areas.

My hobbies and interests are:

•            Playing football

•            I play guitar and I’m also the lead singer in a band.

•            Leeds United.

I have always been passionate around supported living which Horton / Chartford housing excel at.

With my knowledge and experience gained in social housing, compliance, repairs, voids and investment, I want to be able to give even more back to the committees I already serve, and extend my commitment though a ‘safety first’ approach helping to shape the mission, vision and values for Horton and Chartford Housing, which will contribute to people being able to live their best lives though quality housing and support networks.

As a current duty holder and a senior leader, I can offer a wealth of experience in terms of compliance, repairs, void works, policies and procedures, offering an independent view using healthy challenge and the correct level of scrutiny to obtain assurance. Being plugged into the industry allows me to be on the front foot in terms of regulation changes and statutory obligations.

My vast experience in social housing will allow me to share, challenge and assist in providing solutions around ongoing and up and coming social housing challenges. Giving something back and putting my skills to good use can assist Horton and Chartford Housing in achieving strategic aims and goals.

Broadening my knowledge at Board level is a fantastic way to develop professionally and being able to learn from other Board members and executives’ experience and knowledge. Being part of being able to shape the future, improving lives together of Horton and Chartford is something I will embrace and look forward to being part of.
