Board profile: Danny Nicklen

I am a change management specialist with Prince2 and Lean Project Management experience. I have ten years’ experience working in social housing helping to turn around underperforming teams, deploying innovative solutions, managing change and re-engineering processes. I work for the Riverside Group and was formerly at Peabody.

When I am not working, I am at home with my family which includes my wife, our two year old son and two cats. I am a serving local authority councillor representing Ebbsfleet Ward on Dartford Council. I enjoy running and spending time outdoors. We recently joined the National Trust so, we hope to make good use of our memberships!

As a lean practitioner, I like the notion of trial and error and being willing to test innovative ideas to see how they can deliver results for customers. It is clear to me that Horton Housing is willing to embrace new technology and approaches as it strives to ensure everyone has the best possible quality of life.

I have worked in social housing for more than ten years and during that time worked as a Complaints Officer, Business Analyst, Project Manager, Change Manager and most recently in Continuous Improvement. This has enabled me to refine my skills and develop as a change and transformation professional. I hope to utilise these skills in my role on the Board.

Furthermore, I am an experienced local authority councillor and have chaired numerous committees. As Chairman, it was my responsibility to ensure the business of the committee was concluded, decisions were taken in a timely manner and members were given fair opportunity to take part.

I welcome the learning opportunity that this position will bring as I start my journey as a Board member. I am excited to meet Horton staff and hear from our customers. I hope this experience will help me grow as a housing professional.
