New move-on accommodation opens in Skipton

Four units of move-on accommodation for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness have opened in Skipton. The renovation has been completed by Chartford Housing with the assistance of a £180,000 grant from Homes England. Chartford Housing is the development arm of Horton Housing Association and is both a Registered Provider (RP) and registered Charity. As a Registered Provider, Chartford Housing can access development funding from the Homes England Affordable Homes Programme. In its first five years of operation, Chartford Housing has secured £2.6 million from Homes England to create 103 new homes in Bradford, Calderdale and North Yorkshire. Work to transform the Victorian terraced property into four self-contained flats started in March 2020 and was completed on schedule despite lockdown. After a year of support, Leah’s mental health has improved and she is now living independently in her own home. She said: “I found out about the GLS hostel as two of my friends were living there.
