Bradford Respite Intermediate Care Support Service (BRICSS) helps people who are leaving hospital and have nowhere safe to live.
If you are in a hospital in the Bradford district, including Airedale Hospital, and you need this service, then someone from the Pathway Team will talk to you about it.
Bevan Healthcare provide medical care while you stay with us. A doctor comes regularly to check you are OK and we make sure you have enough food and medicine.
There is a member of staff available all the time to help you while you stay with us. We will also help you to find a suitable home and help you with any other problems you might have while you stay with us.
There are only a few services like this in the UK. By helping people in this way, we stop people having to stay in hospital for longer than they need to. This reduces ‘bed blocking’ and saves the NHS money.
We have won awards for this service including:
- UK Housing Awards (2015) finalist in ‘Meeting Specialist Housing Needs’ category
- Community Impact Award (2015) in the Health and Wellbeing category.
The NHS has also studied our work to see if they can do the same thing in other areas of the country.
