Full Description

Our Connecting Opportunities project works with new migrants to help them develop skills, find work and be part of their local community.

The programme helps people who:

  • have arrived in the UK within the last 10 years and do not have British citizenship
  • are aged 15 or over
  • are allowed to work in the UK, but do not have a job
  • live in West Yorkshire (Bradford, Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield) and parts of North Yorkshire (Craven, Harrogate, Selby and York).

Horton Housing is one of 10 organisations that work together to provide the Connecting Opportunities programme.

We offer:

  • Support to develop your skills, find work and get involved with your local community.
  • Classes to help you understand the laws and culture of the UK (this is called cultural orientation)
  • English lessons (these are called ESOL classes)
  • Other training to help you find a job or training
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Work placements.
