Two Halifax charities have joined together with local inns to deliver delicious food to young people during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Debt Advisors from Noah’s Ark have been working with The Moorlands Inn to deliver 30 meals per week to Horton Housing’s Young Persons’ Prevention and Support Service (YPASS) in Halifax, with dishes including curries, pasta and much more.

Andrew, Lesley and Kelly from Noah’s Ark said: “Noah’s Ark is very happy to support the clients of Horton Housing along with a multitude of other organisations that we have been helping. For nearly 20 years our focus has been supporting the most vulnerable people in Calderdale and we are happy that we can continue to do so in these difficult times. We would offer special thanks to all the organisations and individuals who have supported our food project: there are too many to list individually.”

The Halifax Homeless and Community Kitchen (HHCK) have also delivered food parcels of fresh fruit, vegetables and other essentials as well as homemade roast dinners prepared and cooked by The Prospects Inn.
Nicola from HHCK said: “HHCK expanded their service to the community, partnering with Integrated4solutions CIC and responding to the growing need to support the statutory services by running our own food bank to help relieve food insecurity. We are really proud to be positively impacting the lives of the young people and families we are helping and hope our efforts are contributing to relieving the imminent stress caused by the situation we are currently facing.”

Our young clients are delighted with the meals and confirmed that they are as delicious as they look!
An additional donation of 20 Easter eggs by Warrior Factory Martial Arts Academy in Halifax helped to make this a Happy Easter.

YPASS provides support to young people aged 16-21 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Horton Housing’s Services Director Gudrun Haskins-Carlisle said: “We would like to send a huge thank you to everyone involved in these generous donations, they are really appreciated by our young clients and help to lift spirits during these difficult times.”
