STEP Women’s Group Facilitator Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer  who has previous experience of facilitating women’s groups. The group runs on a Monday from 1pm to 2:30pm and is based in Bradford. The group aims to support Syrian women to learn more about the UK and British culture. We are looking for the group to join in with activities and opportunities in the wider community and to build their own individuality. As the group grows, we will be looking at running other sessions in the evening.

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for someone who is working towards either a Counselling degree, Social Work, Mental Health or a similar accreditation. The ability to speak and understand Arabic would be an advantage.

Intensive Housing Management Volunteer

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support our busy Intensive Housing Management Team, based in Halifax. The service provides short-term accommodation for people over the age of 18 with support needs.

The role involves basic administrative duties such as answering the phone, filling out paperwork, reporting repairs and dealing with void properties. This role is perfect for someone who is looking at a career in housing support.

New Communities Interpreter Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who can help us to provide an essential communication link between clients, staff and volunteers. This role is an important one as many of our services users do not speak English as their first language and they rely on high-quality, confidential interpretation and translation to relay their personal experience.

This volunteer role is for people who speak Tigrinya and/or Arabic.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can write and communicate well in the language required (as well as English).
  • has good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • has experience as an interpreter
  • has an understanding of the issues faced by refugees
  • can volunteer as and when needed.

Wellbeing Café Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers at our newly launched Wellbeing Cafés in the Selby District. The cafés are aimed at adults over the age of 18 who have mental health issues or concerns, and their family members and carers.

Our volunteers will help to create a safe and welcoming environment as they assist with the delivery of the café sessions. The role includes setting up the room, making refreshments, meeting and greeting, assisting with group workshops and offering peer mentor support to café visitors.

There are vacancies at all of our cafés, held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in venues across Selby and a number of roles are available. Please complete the Volunteer application form above or contact us.
