Housing Service Objectives The objectives of the service are to: - · Help sustain tenancies and prevent negative departures. · Promote social inclusion; increase the participation of people in their own local communities. Drug & Alcohol Service Objectives The objectives of the service are to: - · Reduce wasted resources; ensure resources invested by one service e.g. drug treatment services, are not jeopardised by inadequate support and accommodation · Meet the particular needs of substance users in touch with the criminal justice system · Increase the number of people receiving support · Make strong links with other agencies · Promote social inclusiveness; increase the participation of people in their local communities · Enable success; support people in their desire to build new lives


Aim:

Our aims are: · To provide a high quality housing related support service to vulnerable people, which is responsive to their needs, circumstances and aspirations, in order to prevent them becoming homeless. · To support people in addressing and/or managing the problems caused by their use of drugs / alcohol. · To support and encourage clients to develop existing skills and gain confidence in their ability to manage their own homes. · To help people move successfully from temporary into permanent accommodation.

Floating support across the Kirklees district.


Referral Route:

People who are homeless and placed in temporary housing by the local authority are, usually, referred by KMC’s Housing Options and Support Service. You can refer yourself directly to the scheme or a referral can be made on your behalf by a representative, for example a social worker, landlord, housing advice officer, drug/alcohol advice worker, Drug Intervention Programme worker, Community Psychiatric Nurse, advice agency or any other person involved in supporting you.
