The Kirklees st@y scheme is a floating support service available to anyone at risk of becoming homeless, or needing support in order to maintain his or her tenancy. The scheme aims to assist vulnerable people to stay in their own accommodation through a range of personal and practical support services. Also based at the st@y office is the bisc@y scheme, which provides a specialist support service for those at risk of losing their accommodation, or who have been displaced by eviction, as a result of anti-social behaviour.
The scheme is available to anyone in the Kirklees Metropolitan area who is in need of the support. Whilst some clients may be facing eviction, others may be at risk of abandoning their property due to the problems they face, for example financial pressures, substance misuse, mental illness, etc, or possibly as a result of literacy or numeracy difficulties. The aim is to enable the client to develop the skills to live as independently as possible, allowing them to make informed choices about their lives, and thereby creating a sustainable tenancy.
Floating support across the Kirklees district.
